Frequently Asked Questions

Any person who is 18 years of age or older. Minors are only accepted if they are accompanied by an adult throughout the entire event; it is not permitted to leave a minor without adult supervision. The liability waiver must be signed by the legal guardian at the time of registration.
Your trusty laptop/computer (unless you're planning to create the next big board game sensation), a charger (because nobody likes a plot twist involving a dead battery), and your creative spirit ! ๐ŸŽฎ

Pack some comfy clothes - you'll want to feel like a coding ninja. Slippers are welcome.

Feel free to bring your favorite brain fuel (we hear chocolate helps with debugging).

Most importantly, bring your A-game and enthusiasm - they're both completely free and absolutely essential! ๐Ÿš€
As much as we'd love to meet your adorable four-legged game tester, we have to keep this a humans-only party! ๐Ÿพ

No pets allowed, even if they promise to debug your code.

Trust us, your dog would probably just try to eat everyone's pizza anyway ! ๐Ÿ•
๐ŸŽฎ Here's a jam-friendly AI policy :

Use AI tools as assistants, not primary creators - they can help with debugging, asset refinement, or brainstorming, but the core game concept and design must be human-made.

Feel free to use them but remember: Your creative brain is the game director - AI tools are just part of your jam crew
Plot twist: This isn't a sleepover party ! ๐Ÿ˜ด

While our venue is more secure than Fort Knox, we don't do overnight stays.

Plan to :
-> Head home for some quality .zZz. .zZz.
-> Book a nearby hotel (your back will thank you!)
-> Perfect your power-napping skills at home

Remember: Sleep-deprived coding leads to functions named "whyIsntThisWorking" and variables like "aaaaaaaaa" !
๐Ÿ• Food Update: We're Feeding Your Creativity!

Great news ! Your stomachs won't have to do any sad growling during the jam!

What this means for you:

โ€ข ๐Ÿ• Pizza party incoming! (Because code runs on cheese and tomato sauce, it's scientifically proven*)
โ€ข ๐Ÿฅ— Salads for those who want to pretend they're being healthy
โ€ข ๐Ÿฅจ Snacks to keep your fingers busy while debugging
โ€ข โ˜•๏ธ Breakfast to transform you from zombie to human each morning

Important: Please indicate if you're vegan during registration. We want to make sure nobody has to survive on napkins and coffee!
Pro Jam Tip: While we've got the food covered, feel free to bring your secret stash of emergency chocolate. We won't judge!

*Not actually scientifically proven, but who are we to argue with pizza? ๐Ÿค“
๐ŸŽฎ Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, you're welcome here! All skills are valuable - from basic coding to stick-figure art, from simple tunes to storytelling. Your enthusiasm is all you need to get started! โญ๏ธ
๐Ÿค Teams will form naturally during our in-person meetup at the start of the jam - but feel free to connect with others beforehand.

Whether you come solo or with friends, you'll find your perfect team when we kick things off.
๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Get your tools ready before the jam!
You'll need:
-> A game engine (Unity, Godot, or Unreal - dealer's choice)
-> Code editor (the one that makes you feel like a hacker)
-> Art software (MS Paint legends welcome)
-> Audio tools (for when you need more than "pew pew" sounds)
-> Git (because "final_final_REALLY_FINAL_v3.zip" isn't version control)

Test everything before the jam starts ! ๐Ÿ’ป
๐Ÿค House Rules:

-> Be excellent to each other ๐ŸŽธ
-> No harassment (save the fighting for your game)
-> Keep it PG-13
-> Credit your resources
-> Ask before taking photos

Break these rules and you'll have to face our event organizers! ๐Ÿฆนโ€โ™‚๏ธ
โš ๏ธ After the jam :
-> Upload your game to globalgamejam.org (this is mandatory!)
-> Show off your creation to everyone
-> Play and vote for other games
-> Your game lives forever on GGJ website
-> You keep all rights to your game
-> Optional: Keep developing your game!

Join us at the IndieDevs' meetup in February for a GGJ post-mortem where we'll share our jam stories ! ๐ŸŽฎ
